GoldTail

Our Story

It started with my kid Nakul's birthday. I wanted the invite to be the fun part.

The apps I tried cost a lot, and every feature sat behind a paywall. Guests had to make an account to RSVP. I couldn't print a nice copy. And I didn't love any of their designs.

The replies landed everywhere: a text, a group chat, a "we'll try to make it!" A week before the party, I still didn't know how many kids were coming, or who had a peanut allergy.

I wanted two things. An invite that felt made for my kid. And a headcount I could trust without chasing anyone. I knew other parents wanted the same, so I built GoldTail.

With GoldTail, the art is made for your party. You say how you imagine the card, add pictures you love, and pick a little cartoon of your kid. Mo paints a scene with their favorite things and the season. You can bring your own design, too. Guests open one link, tap yes, and say how many kids and grown-ups are coming, with allergies right there. Nobody makes an account. Nobody pays a fee. And you can print it.

The name comes from our mascot, Mo, a cheerful little mongoose with a golden tail. Nakula is Sanskrit for mongoose, so Mo is Nakul in animal form. His name comes from Modakapriya, a name of Ganesha that means "lover of modaks", the sweets. So Mo loves party food. His golden tail comes from the golden mongoose in the Mahabharata, whose fur turned gold after a family's generous welcome. And like Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, he looks after his family.

In Mo's story, he helped a family share a feast with the whole village, and his tail turned gold. Now he makes sure every party is full of friends and sweets.

Nakul's party comes first. Then a few parent friends will try it. If you're a guest reading this, tap "Make your own" at the bottom of any invite. I'd love for you to be next.
